Paperwork again ?

They'll never learn, do they ?
I clearly informed them that all bills from the medical check-up at the Institute for Tropical Medicine should be sent to TGI (Total Gèstion International) in Genève and guess what .... right, they sent it to me.
Ah well, I'll probably pay them another visit anyway for the repetition of the vaccines I got a couple of weeks ago. Then the old bat pretending to be a nurse will be happy also.

Postponed ...

Got an email today saying that the Ministry for legalization of the medical forms are not working until 4th of january. And even then they only work on mondays and wednesdays.
After they put their stamp on it, it can be sent to the Visa-company who will introduce the files to Enjazit who will send it to the embassy for the final Visa application.
Just to make things easy ...

Vacation has never been so weary ...

It's a fact : sometimes it's good to have something to look forward too in order to get some things done around the house. Amazing how 5 years can lead up to such a massive amount of garbage : in the garage, at the attic, in the basement, in the hallway, ...
A 12 kube container was filled to the top in no time. Hard work, but it had to be done ... really. After 5 years I re-discovered my boots and found things I didn't even know I had.
A whole lot of stuff gathered from family, things you know you will be able to use sometime in the near future, but actually that never really happens, does it ? Probably in the next few days, weeks or months I will need something that's on the container right now, like it knows it's about to get demolished.
Anyway, I'm glad it's over. My back hurts and my legs don't co-operate anymore the way I want them to do. Tomorrow will be twice as hard, but then again : no pain, no gain !

Boring days ...

Well, actually this has got little to do with the "Jubail Experience"-blog, but these days are so boring I just had to write something about it. Who the hell invented X-mas and New Year anyway ? Just another commercial twist of mankind's brain ...
We all got a whole year to apreciate, love, respect, help eachother but don't do it, but these few days ... oh yes ... now we'll show everyone how nice we can be ...
I'm happy to spend the day with my gorgeous wife and wonderful daughter and that's all I need really. All other things don't matter.

What things to bring ?

Today a very nice lady from Interdean showed up at the house to take a look at the things I want to bring to KSA (Kingdom of Saoudi Arabia).
To be honest : I haven't got a clue. First of all : the place where we will be staying has got all the things necessary to pick up a normal family-life. It's got all the furniture of a fully equiped appartment, the kitchen has got everything needed to prepare the best meals, with-in walkingdistance of the place where we'll stay there's a supermarket, fitness, swimmingpool, restaurant, ...
So, the most important thing to bring seems to be : my swimsuit and some books.
Any suggestions are always welcome ofcourse ...
Oh yeah : my toothbrush ;-)

Getting closer ...

Today I (well, we, the 5 of us) got an email which is getting us a little closer to the final departure date. We'll be leaving after the 7th of january. That is of course if all the visas will be on time.
I've sent my application yesterday with the Belgian Post, but their promise of having every letter on it's destiny within the next day has not been fullfilled sofar. Let's hope they will receive it tomorrow then, shall we ...
Hope they work a little better then TNT. At first they sent the paperwork -needed for Geneva- to the wrong person. Then they also signed for acceptance themselves, because I wasn't home that time.
Ah well, think positive, right ?

Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork,...

Well, actually I was supposed to start a blog sometime way earlier then today, but the way things went on, no-one was actually sure about being selected, nor what date we'd go there.
It was somewhere around januari 2009 when Total Antwerp popped the question : who wants to sign up for candidacy for the Jubail-project. We had to inlist before 20th of february 2009.
Now we're almost 3 years later and we have green light for the 2nd or 3rd week of january 2012.
After sending CV's, letters of application, a couple of trips and numerous phonecalls and emails we are almost there. Now all we have to do is wait for the visa's and workpermits. I guess another couple of weeks don't matter too much anymore... What I've learned so far is that the chain really doesn't hold when there's a weak link in it (cfr. the communication between us, Antwerp, Brussels and Geneva).
This is just a first of what I hope to be a whole bunch of posts, but they might be changing as I am not familiar with making a blog. As I will practise, I will put pictures and more stuff on here...
 I think :-)
